‘Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish’: Apple CEO Tim Cook Honors Steve Jobs On His Birthday

Apple may not have fallen apart following the death of Steve Jobs, but that doesn’t mean that the company isn’t missing its talismanic leader. Today, February 24th would have been Jobs’ 59th birthday had he survived his battle with cancer, and there are plenty of people remembering him.
Perhaps predictably, one of those people is Apple’s current CEO Tim Cook, with the man who replaced Jobs taking to Twitter to make sure we all know just what Jobs meant to everyone at Apple.

Reciting the famous quote of “Stay hungry, Stay foolish,” Cook says that Apple will honor its co-founder by “continuing the work he loved so much.” Cook later says that details matter, and that Apple will continue to wait in order to get things right. This may hold the dual purpose of remembering Jobs and acting as a nod to those that are questioning Apple’s lack of any big announcements nearly three months into 2014.
Cook has famously promised Apple’s followers and shareholders that his company is working on “some really great stuff,” and with Cook saying that Apple is working on new product categories many have taken that to mean that a potential watch and new Apple TV-type device may be on the way.

Whatever Apple does have up its sleeve, Jobs is quoted as saying just before his death that Apple had cracked the TV problem, again suggesting that a television product was in the pipeline. Years after that quote though we still find ourselves sans Apple-made television, though that doesn’t mean one isn’t in the works. Apple has been known to can products before they come to fruition though, which is worth remembering when trying to put a finger on where Apple is going.

Regardless, today is a day for remembering one of the two men that set Apple on its path many years ago, and whatever your stance on Steve Jobs and his management style, we suspect Apple wouldn’t be the company it is today without him.

2. BetterSnapTool (by Andreas Hegenberg)

How To Add Facebook RSS Widget On iOS 7 Home Screen

With over one billion active users, Facebook is the world’s largest social network by quite a margin. But while the Menlo Park-based company has spent quite a lot of time implementing features like Facebook Home and system-wide Chat Heads to Google’s Android, the restrictive nature of iOS has meant that Facebooking on an iPhone or iPad remains a squarely in-app affair. Thanks to the jailbreak scene, though, iOS users can enjoy a much more integrated experience when using Facebook, and a new tweak, which brings a neat RSS feed of your Wall right to your iOS home screen, has just been released via Cydia. Check it out after the break!
In an age where the likes of Facebook and Twitter are becoming our primary sources of news and general Web content, the RSS feed is slowly becoming a dying art form. But this particular widget – aptly entitled Facebook RSS – uses the RSS feed link to bring your Facebook wall to your iDevice.

You can customize the widget as well, although you will need an SSH utility for this purpose. As ever, we highly recommend purchasing iFile for a one-off fee, and it will take care of your SSH needs from now until the end of time.

The widget itself looks great, is nice and clean, and isn’t too obtrusive. If you’re looking for a way to keep tabs on your Facebook Wall activity without having to fire up the app every ten seconds, then the Facebook RSS widget is one you’ll be wanting to try. Hence it’s safe to say that it’s a widget made with a diehard Facebook user in mind.
It doesn’t cost anything at all to download and is absolutely free, and can be found over at the ModMyi repository, which is a default source within Cydia.

Top 10 Cydia Repos List For iOS 7 [2014 Edition]

Cydia is a vast hub of tweaks, apps, themes, and other such jailbreak-only treasures, but by default, only a few repositories are added. In order to truly experience the diverse array of content on offer, you have to manually search and add new ones all the time. But to save you the hassle of having to go hunting, we’ve compiled a checklist of great repos we’ve stumbled across, so if you’re on the hunt for some new jailbreak-specific stuff, be sure to add all of the repositories listed after the break!
For the benefit of those unfamiliar with the process of adding a new repo, it’s actually very simple. Just fire up Cydia, hit Manage, then navigate through Sources > Edit > Add . Thereafter, you will be typing (or pasting) the address, and after a short delay, you will be able to browse, search, and download tweaks contained within that repo.
Right, let’s get started.

Ryan Petrich’s Repo
Petrich is renowned within the jailbreak scene for producing high volumes of high quality tweaks, including the likes of DisplayRecorder, OverBoard, and, of course, Activator. His repo over at rpetri.ch/repo is the source of many beta releases, and is well worth adding to your list of sources.
BiteSMS Beta Repo
BiteSMS would unquestionably find itself in our top three list of the most valuable jailbreak tweaks / apps of all time, and with good reason. It completely re-imagines the stock offering, adding a plethora of great features like quick compose / reply, customization, and to be frank, we wish Apple would hurry up and emulate the experience at stock level.
The BiteSMS team runs a beta repo allowing users to sample upcoming features, which can be accessed by adding the source test-cydia.bitesms.com
Couria Beta Repo
Staying on the topic of Messages momentarily; if you don’t wish to go the whole hog and revamp the system with something as big and awesome as BiteSMS, there are many ways to make subtle changes and tweaks for a better all-round messaging experience.
Couria, which we featured here a month ago, is one such tweak, bringing quick reply and quick compose to the Messages app. The beta repo at cydia.Qusic.me will let you access the betas.
iCleaner Pro Repo
iCleaner Pro, as the name implies, will automatically detect and banish unwanted, unnecessary clutter from your device, freeing up space for music, movies, apps, and whatever else you like to cram onto your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
The app’s beta repo can be found at exile90software.com/cydia
StatusBarFix2 Repo
Although the Evad3rs team made it nice and easy for us to jailbreak our beloved iOS devices with a noob-proof Evasi0n utility, the very nature of jailbreaking as a hacker’s sport means that bugs and issues following a seemingly successful jailbreak are fairly commonplace.
This time around, some users were reporting of the status bar behaving erratically, and thanks to the guys of the repo.pnre.co.vu repo, this issue was quickly resolved with StatusBarFix2.
Suffice to say, if any other niggling iOS issues arise in the future, this is a good source to have in the repertoire.
teamXBMC Repo
XBMC is renowned as a great open-source media center / player app, and was, until the jailbreaks seemed to dry up, the weapon of choice for many Apple TV users.
Following the release of the iOS 7 jailbreak, XBMC was released for iOS, and if you’re a great watcher of movies and videos on your iDevice, this is an app you’ll certainly want to be testing out.
Grab it via mirrors.xbmc.org/apt/ios
CoolStar’s Repo
In adding the repo.coolstar.org repo, you’ll find a handy selection of command-line tools, and although you can probably skip this one if you’re rather new to the jailbreaking scene (or completely unfamiliar with even basic commands), it’s a very well-manned, constantly-updated repo with tweaks for advanced users.
HASHBANG Productions Repo
Although some of the repositories we’ve mentioned here purport to improve the iOS experience in terms of functionality, the HASHBANG repo is all about that style, adding a little cool factor to proceedings with customization tweaks like ScreenFade, Tap To Unlock, and other such effects.
Take a look for yourself by adding cydia.hbang.ws to your sources.
ParrotGeek Software Repo
If you fancy some nice subtle improvements to iOS, then the ParrotGeek Software repo is something worth checking out. Housing useful tweaks such as Siri old Voice for iOS 7, iOS 7 Adrenaline and Unauthorized Lightning Cable Enabler, it definitely deserves a place in your most-accessed repos in Cydia.
You can add the ParrotGeek Software repo by adding this link: parrotgeek.net/repo
Karen’s Pineapple Repo
Finally, we highly recommend Karen’s Pineapple repo, especially if you’re into your emulators and such. The App Store is filling up with numerous ports and remakes of our old favorites, but if you just want to kick back to some Duke Nukem in true Game Boy style, then look no further than this very rich Cydia source: cydia.angelxwind.net
And, there you have it. That’s our list to help get you started with some of the great tweaks, apps, themes, emulators and mods out there for jailbroken iOS devices.

And like i mentioned at the beginning of this post, you can add repos by navigating to:Sources > Edit > Add under the Manage tab in Cydia.
